Alpine is a historic mountain community dating back to the early settlers of Southern California. The first people to enjoy Alpine’s fine climate were the Kumeyaay Indians, who lived here around a thousand years ago. They are one of the many tribes whom the early Catholic Missionaries grouped together under the name Diegueno. The descendants of these people are a vital part of our present community. Since the pioneer days, Alpine has drawn many to enjoy scenic vistas, fresh air, and pleasant climate. Alpine has a small-town charm where residents enjoy a sparse suburban feel despite the proximity to a bustling metropolitan region. Many young professionals and retirees live in Alpine. The public schools in Alpine are highly rated. Alpine has a thriving economy powered by a dynamic business community. There are hundreds of small firms that offer professional services and a variety of retail shops. Businesses are primarily located within the town center, along Alpine Boulevard and Tavern Road.
Located in San Diego’s East County. Alpine is a jewel of quiet country living less than half an hour from Downtown San Diego.
